CHILDREN FIRST! : SAFE TRAFFIC OPERATIONS AROUND SCHOOLS

The Texas Department of Transportations Precious Cargo traffic safety plan is the subject of this article on traffic safety in school neighborhoods. Precious Cargos goal of better traffic circulation around schools is described, including its primary components such as dedicated right and left hand turn lanes onto school campuses. The development of comprehensive statewide guidelines for near-school circulation is described, as well as what those guidelines would entail. Parking, drop-off zones, and bicycle access are among the guideline subjects.
