Increase in Productivity and Cost Efficiency of Railway Infrastructure Inspection and Maintenance Achieved by Optimisation of Work Processes
This article discusses the scope of the extensive reorganization and optimization of work processes at BAM Rail of Netherlands performed by proLean Consulting AG of Duesseldorf, Germany. Inspection and maintenance expenditures were significantly reduced as a result of the deployment of inter-disciplinary inspection and maintenance teams that also directly carried out small repairs. An important prerequisite for this was the rejection of isolated consideration of the specialist deployment groups.
