THE EFFECT OF CENTER HIGH MOUNTED STOP LAMP (CHMSL) ON REAR-END ACCIDENTS IN ISRAEL
This study examined the contribution of the Center High Mounted Stop Lamp (CHMSL) to highway safety, using Israel as a case study. Based on the accident records from Israel for calendar years 1994-2002, the reduction in rear end accidents due to the CHMSL is estimated to be 7%. This estimate is similar to the most recent findings in previous CHMSL studies in the USA.
