RATIONAL ROAD REHABILITATION DESIGN BASED ON DCP, DEFLECTIONS AND AASHTO PRINCIPLES
The basic AASHTO road pavement design method is outlined. Modified AASHTO methods are described including using measured subgrade variability and using full point-specific designs for reliability analysis. Structural deficiency determination, rehabilitation and overlay design are considered. The evolution of the methodology for overlay design is described in relation to pavements that are poor load spreading structures and the data scenarios of a full data set, a data without deflection data, and a data set with deflection data but no dynamic cone penetrometer data.
