REAL HIGH FLIERS

Fastway is a bus service that runs from Crawley to Gatwick Airport, UK, based on guided busway sections, improved infrastructure, dedicated bus lanes and high quality new buses. It aims to provide an effective public transport system for the people travelling to and from home and work at Gatwick Airport and Crawley's business district. The public and private sector partners involved in the project are listed. The selection of the Fastway vehicle following consultation of potential users is outlined. Details are given of the improved infrastructure, accessibility of the buses for disabled people, fast service, passenger information provided by global positioning system technology, communication with the public during construction, and progress with the three phases of the project.
