NAPA HONORS FNF CONSTRUCTION WITH SHELDON G. HAYES AWARD

This article names FNF Construction from Tempe, Arizona, as the winner of the 2004 Sheldon G. Hayes Award. The winner and finalists are determined through a two-year process, for highway projects involving the use of more than 50,000 tons of hot-mix asphalt. The pavements are evaluated for smoothness, while the contractor is evaluated for meeting specifications and achieving density on the finished pavement. FNF received the award for the milling and overlay of approximately 10 miles of Interstate 40 in Coconino County, Arizona. Interstate 40 is a major thoroughfare in Arizona, receiving an average daily traffic count of 21,000 vehicles, most of which are trucks. The article also mentions the two finalists in the competition: Scotty's Contracting, for its work on 2.3 miles of the Western Kentucky Parkway in Grayson County, and Mountain Enterprises, for the construction, milling, and overlay of nine miles of both southbound and northbound lanes of Highway 23 in Johnson County, Kentucky.
