CHALLENGES IN HEALTHCARE PARKING AND THE ROLE OF PARKING MASTER PLANNING
Healthcare planning needs to make more of an effort to plan for adequate parking at hospitals and other healthcare campuses. Parking is an issue at these facilities due to the nature of people coming and going from hospitals; the mix of medical office and hospital buildings, people arriving and departing are often sick or grieving, and many visitors have either permanent or temporary disabilities. Proper planning, and restructuring, can help alleviate parking issues at hospitals. Plans need to address both short term and long term issues without losing sight of usability. Properly planned parking facilities can promote a better working environment for hospital staff and make the customers' experience more comfortable.
