Growing Traffic in Rural America: Safety, Mobility and Economic Challenges in America's Heartland
This report examines the use, condition, and safety of the non-Interstate rural roads in the United States, based in part on a recent analysis of the totality of fatal rural traffic accidents in the five year period from 1999 to 2003. The report also investigates the measures some states are undertaking to improve traffic safety on rural roads, and ends with recommendations for reducing traffic fatalities on rural roads in the U.S.
