THE EFFECTS OF DRIVER TRAINING ON SIMULATED DRIVING PERFORMANCE

This study investigated the effects of professional driver training on simulated driving performance with trained drivers demonstrating a potentially safer driving style. The results indicate that in comparison to non-police trained drivers, police drivers exhibited greater caution during overtaking and at a particular hazard. The findings with respect to speed suggest that while there is no significant difference in speed choice between the driver groups, significantly more police drivers reduced speed in response to a pedestrian hazard compared with non-police trained drivers.
