WHEN LESS IS MORE: THE CASE FOR CONTACT-FREE TRAVEL
Improving customer service commonly means hiring more employees, regardless of the industry. This article claims that public transit industry is perhaps the only industry reversing the trend. Contactless systems for fare collection and validation are springing up in numerous countries around the world. Provided is a short review of the development of the contactless technology that emerged in the mid 1990s and has become the benchmark aspired to in public transit ticketing.
