HEAVY VEHICLE FREIGHT TRANSPORT IN BUILT-UP AREAS
TUNG TRAFIK I TAETORTER
This report summarizes a series of conferences on freight transport planning in built-up areas. Firstly, general transport trends and built-up area traffic restraints are described. In addition to general restraints, there are special restraints governing freight transport, such as route recommendations, special parking rules, maximum weight and length. A description of built-up area road and transport administration and policy at local, regional and state level is given. The duties of the street offices as well as town planning in general and the built-up area road planning are presented. The problems caused by local authority traffic planning and restraints to the wholesale and retail trade, the building trade, oil transport and the haulage trade are discussed. From this, proposals on how to create a balance between various interests are provided. /TRRL/
