THE PRESENT STATE OF KNOWLEDGE, AND OUTSTANDING PROBLEMS, OF STRUCTURE-BORNE NOISE IN RELATION TO THE GEOMETRY OF THE HULL STRUCTURE
The Author explains some fundamentals of structure-borne noise and describes in detail the more important relationships between the geometry of a ship's structure and the transmission and reduction of structure-borne noise, including the effects of structural discontinuities and the influence of water adjacent to one side of plating such as that of tanks and the underwater shell. He mentions that his considerations are, for the most part, purely theoretical and require to be supplemented by experimental work. Order from: BSRA as No. 48,515.
