MICROSCOPIC EXAMINATION OF CONCRETE SUBJECTED TO AN ACCELERATED SIMULATION OF IN-SERVICE PAVEMENT DEGRADATION
A large study was conducted to evaluate the concrete mixture used near Fort Dodge, Iowa. The study investigated a number of concrete mixtures, including some that contain fly ash and one without fly ash. Concrete specimens were also obtained from the original pavement. Various laboratory aging protocols were used to develop an approach that would predict the observed field performance. The results of a petrographic analysis conducted to evaluate the concrete test prisms that were subjected to the various laboratory aging protocols are presented.
