INTERLABORATORY PRECISION ESTIMATION CONCERNING THE TEST METHODS FOR BITUMINOUS AND ASPHALT MATERIALS FOR PAVEMENT CONSTRUCTION

Reproducibility conditions regarding interlaboratory precision estimation have been analyzed for ASTM Standard test methods for bituminous and asphalt materials including penetration of bituminous materials, softening point of bitumen, effect of heat and air on asphaltic materials, solubility of asphalt materials in trichloroethylene, kinematic viscosity of asphalts (bitumens), viscosity of asphalt by vacuum capillary viscometer. Presented test method results from specialized laboratories have been analyzed and employed for interlaboratory precision estimation. The problem of outlying observations in samples has been studied in some detail. Presented results from specialized laboratories have been essentially corrected and necessary rejections of outlying observations have been realized according to ASTM Standard requirements for corresponding test method. Presented results can be effectively employed in practical applications and in the further investigation as a basis for a physical cause determination. For the covering abstract see ITRD E121480.
