AUTOMATED DATA COLLECTION, ANALYSIS, AND ARCHIVAL
One of the components of Advanced Transportation Management System is Traffic Monitoring Station (TMS). The study aim is to explore multiple TMS data applications to assist the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) that presently does not archive the information for long term purposes. Guidelines are established for developing a TMS data archival, analysis, and retrieval system. The project consists of the following four objectives: to conduct a review of nationwide data collection, analysis, and archival practices; to identify user requirements inside and outside UDOT; to develop the TMS information system architecture; and to provide recommendations for implementation in the system.
