DETECTOR TECHNOLOGY EVALUATION
Inductive loop detectors are the most common technology for detecting vehicles. This report presents the present status of detector technologies and on development trends in these technologies. The primary goal of this work is to evaluate the technologies under a variety of criteria and provide user guidelines for detector technology selection. the project objectives are: to present state of the art detector technology; to evaluate different detector technologies under several criteria; and to provide guidelines for detector technology selection. Information for this study comes from application of detector technologies, technology development, user manuals for specific detector devices, and detector field testing projects.
