DETERMINATION OF THE MANOEUVRING DERIVATIVES OF A SHIP MODEL USING A HORIZONTAL PLANAR MOTION MECHANISM IN A CIRCULATING WATER CHANNEL
Information on the manoeuvring characteristics of three ship models (two tankers and a fine form) is obtained by use of a horizontal planar motion mechanism in a circulating water channel. Various amplitudes and low frequencies of oscillation were selected and their effects on the fluid actions illustrated. The results presented in this study relate to deep water; further work is in progress to investigate the effects of shallow water. Order from: BSRA as No. 48,341.
