CASE FOR RADA TECHNIQUE USING SATELLITES FOR MARINE COMMUNICATION
The traffic requirements of merchant ships as well as for others are of low density and random in nature. As such, it is uneconomical to provide dedicated channels to the ships. Demand assignments and Random-Access Discrete-Address communication (RADA) techniques are useful in such a situation. A new RADA technique is being developed using A-RWM modulation, and its characteristics are discussed. It is shown that the ARWM-SSMA will support 10 talkers per MHz of channel bandwidth with simple hardware.
