ASYNCHRONOUS TRANSMISSION WITH STATIC CONVERTER TESTED BY SNCF
ESSAI DE TRANSMISSION ASYNCHRONE AVEC CONVERTISSEUR STATIQUE A LA SNCF
After using the asynchronous motor for some twenty years, the SNCF has carried out tests for supplying current by means of a static converter on an experimental unit consisting of a CC 14000 locomotive and a powered luggage van. The author reviews the results obtained. Close collaboration between the makers of the motors and the inverters should result in an economical dual-current tractive unit.
