ASPECTS OF ROAD TRAFFIC NOISE

HET GELUIDSASPECT VAN WEGVERKEER

In September 1975 a bill was introduced in the Dutch House of Commons containing regulations on the noise production of, for instance, vehicles and road traffic. The bill also deals with aspects such as supervision and financing. The article is concerned with regulations referring directly to road traffic. Measures to reduce noise are divided into several categories, the most important being those which can be taken at the source. Secondly, noise can be impeded by measures on its way from the source to the individual. Finally, the individual can be protected by physical means such as insulation of houses. /TRRL/
