VARIETY OF DRIVE TRAIN DESIGNS CONVERT ENGINE POWER TO THRUST
Efforts to reduce fuel consumption have resulted in a variety of drive train designs to convert engine power to thrust. This report discusses the design of controllable and reversible-pitch (CRP) propellers, rotatable thrusters, waterjet propulsion, reduction gears, and electric transmission systems.
