SWITCH TO ENERGY-EFFICIENT LIGHTING, LOWER WATTAGES SAVES HIGHWAY DOLLARS
Several states across the country recently have initiated energy conservation measures by switching to high pressure sodium lamps and reducing lighting levels in some areas without compromising traffic safety, while at the same time coming up with some impressive cost savings that somewhat ease the tight budget situation. The article reports on a poll recently conducted among various highway departments to determine what specifically is being done in their areas to conserve energy through highway lighting techniques and equipment.
