NEW RESILIENT WHEELS FOR ROLLING STOCK ON LOCAL RAIL SERVICES
NEUE GUMMIGEFEDERTE RAEDER FUER DEN NAHVERKEHR
These wheels were developed by the Kloecknerwerke. There are two types and consist of two rings with a parallelogram-shaped cross-section inserted between the tyre and the rim, and responding to compressive and shear forces. The article summarizes the advantages of the resilient wheel, the technical conditions to which the rubber is subjected, and describes the wheels developed by Kloecknerwerke, their assembly and dismantling procedures, their bench and in-service testing and their characteristics.
