PLATELET POWER. A NEW APPROACH TO PROTECTION AGAINST RUST
A new method intended to economically and effectively control corrosion of the upper areas of permanent ballast tanks in large tankers is described. The active corrosion preventive material in this method is a rust-retarding sulphonate which has long been used in lubricating and instrument oils. What is new, is the patented method of keeping the sulphonate active, available, and in contact with the metal surface to be protected. The material used in the new method is manufactured under the trade name of "Magnakote" by Magnus Maritec International of New Jersey, USA. Order from: BSRA as No. 47,568.
