VEHICLE LICENSE PLATE RECOGNITION BY MEANS OF CELLULAR AUTOMATA

In this paper, the authors present a prototype for a vehicle license plate recognition system that is based on both uniform and non-uniform cellular automata. The system is capable of recognizing license plates for slow-moving vehicles under any environmental conditions. It is shown that the cellular automata model leads to improved time performances.
