PARAMETRIC DESIGN OF DUAL MODE STATIONS

The General Motors Dual Mode Transit System concept includes off-line stations with sawtooth platform configurations. This paper discusses the parametric design of such a station and presents a sensitivity analysis of some station design parameters. A description of each functional station area is presented. Queuing analysis techniques, in conjunction with Fruin's pedestrian level-of-service concept, are utilized to determine the sizes of passenger areas and the number of various passenger processing devices as functions of passenger volumes. The relationship between the number of vehicle bays and vehicle throughput is also examined. /GMRL/
