HIGH TEMPERATURE OXIDATION BEHAVIOR OF HEAT RESISTANT STEELS IN EXHAUST GAS FROM AUTOMOBILE
High temperature oxidation of heat resistant steels in the exhaust gas from automobile is reviewed in terms of (1) the present status of emission control devices and their steel materials, (2) oxidation behavior of the steels in the exhaust gas, (3) the influence of oxidizing components in the exhaust gas on the oxidation of the steels, (4) thermo-chemical explanation of the oxidation of steels in the C-H-O-S-N system gas equilibria composed of exhaust gas, and (5) the effect of the particulates of Pb, halogen, P and their compounds in the exhaust gas on the oxidation of steels.
