STEAM TURBINES-A KEY TO IMPROVED LONG TERM ECONOMY IN SHIP OPERATION

Life cycle and economic key factors in prime mover operation are reviewed. The techno-economic feasibility of a new very advanced propulsion turbine is evaluated by comparing it with slow-speed diesel engines during the period 1981-1996 for a 130,000 dwt tanker. Machinery arrangement is indicated. Order from: NSFI as No. 14496.
