FLUID FORCES IN REAL HEAT EXCHANGER TUBE VIBRATIONS
Most real heat exchangers have been observed to fail at the tube rows closest to the baffle cut. Analysis of this area is undertaken starting from the equations of motion, and emphasis is placed on fluid forces. In particular, dynamic buoyancy effects and the accompanying mean stresses are shown important for damage prediction. A numerical example is included.
