RIDEABILITY EQUIPMENT EVALUATION
The principle objective of this study is to find a road roughness measuring system which could be operated at normal highway speeds and be implemented as a suitable replacement for the standard BPR Road Roughness Indicator. Several commercially manufactured road roughness devices including a Mays Ride Meter, A soiltest ML-500B Wisconsin Road Meter, and A soiltest CT-44B Roughness Integrator were evaluated. Results of the testing were subjected to statistical analyses to determine the precision, accuracy and correlation of the devices with the standard BPR Road Roughness Indicator. Recommendations for the implementation of the devices are also made. /FHWA/
