DETERMINATION OF SEISMICALLY INDUCED SOIL LIQUEFACTION POTENTIAL AT PROPOSED BRIDGE SITES: VOLUME II--PLANNING GUIDE FOR EVALUATION OF LIQUEFACTION
This is the second of a two-part guide for bridge planners to evaluate the possible effects of earthquake-induced soil liquefaction. Volume I is an extensive study in the areas of soil liquefaction parameters, methods to predict liquefaction, laboratory testing, field exploration, consequences of liquefaction, and damage to bridge structures from observed earthquakes. Volume II presents the results and conclusions of Volume I in a manner designed to be most useful to bridge planners by reviewing alternative sites to minimize the possibility of liquefaction damage. The most important computer programs available for knowledge of the behavior of the soil at a proposed bridge site are discussed, as well as noncomputer methods of site evaluation, assessment, and selection.
