EVALUATION OF THE MOANALUA FREEWAY CARPOOL/ BUS BYPASS LANE
This report presents the results of an evaluation study of the carpool/bus bypass lane on the Moanalua Freeway, located in Honolulu, Hawaii. This priority lane facility is located on the median lane in both directions of the six-lane divided freeway. The effectiveness of this carpool/bus lane is evaluated with nine specific criteria: mode split, vehicular and passenger traffic volumes, traffic performance characteristics, effectiveness of traffic control devices, traffic safety, operational problems related to design features, project economics, public attitudes, and institutional problems.
