STIFF TRACK MODULUS CONSIDERATIONS
Workers on California's Alameda Corridor are considering solutions to counteract stiff track modules that contribute to component failures resulting from extreme load environments. Accelerated ballast degradation or concrete tie cracking may occur in an environment with stiff track modules because of the effect of heavy train loads. The proper selection of ballast, concrete ties, rail fasteners, and rail pads may help solve deterioration and high component failure.
