WHAT SHOULD THE GOVERNMENT'S PRIORITIES BE?
The connection between economic efficiency and logistics is discussed in relation to transport requirements. The additional delivery vehicle burden if just 8% of high street shopping transfers to the internet is discussed. The allocation of transport infrastructure to different transport modes is considered. The length of time taken by the planning process for road and aviation developments is criticised, particularly in relation to a shortage of skilled project planners. The introduction of park and ride schemes is constrained by the lack of space for the car parking. The need for more personnel skilled in logistics planning is stressed.
