CHANNEL TUNNEL RAIL LINK

This special report on the Channel Tunnel Rail Link (CTRL) in the UK consists of four articles. The first describes Section One of the CTRL with respect to financial restructuring, construction progress, the contractural date for opening in 2003, maintenance strategies, operation of freight trains and domestic trains, and a single St Pancras hub. The second article describes the progress of Section Two with reference to contracts, bridges, surface routes, twin tunnels from Dagenham to the King's Cross Railway Lands, and the facilities at St Pancras. The third article describes the 'Systemwide' railway infrastructure installation work on the CTRL and the construction of the Beechbrook Farm base near Ashford. The last article describes the design and construction of the new St Pancras station.
