PICTURE PERFECT : AUTOMATIC LICENSE PLATE RECOGNITION IS STILL THE BEST METHOD OF ENFORCEMENT FOR TOLLING SYSTEMS AND OTHER APPLICATIONS

This article focuses on automatic license plate recognition technology. It discusses the system configuration and how the technology operates. Applications described include: enforcement for tolling systems, security and surveillance in parking areas, access control, and speed limits and safety distance control. Issues regarding performance specifications are also discussed.
