WRITING WRONG : VARIABLE MESSAGE SIGN/DYNAMIC ROUTE INFORMATION PANEL TECHNOLOGY IS NOT NEW

This article looks at how variable message sign/dynamic route information panel (VMS/DRIP) technology can be used to provide a variety of information, such as traffic conditions, route information incident occurrences, and weather information. It also discusses how VMS/DRIP systems can be used most effectively and that standardization is needed if optimal integration is to be achieved.
