MIAMI-DADE COUNTY TRANSPORTATION MANAGEMENT CENTER (TMC) FUNCTIONALITY STUDY
The focus of this report is to provide assistance in the planning and implementation of regional transportation management centers (TMCs) in Miami-Dade County in Florida. It first defines the concept of a transportation management center and then discusses related benefits and challenges. It then provides an inventory and observations of existing TMCs in Miami-Dade County. TMC functionalities and a framework for the integration of multiple agencies are discussed. Summaries of eight case studies, describing state-of-the-art practice of TMC operations, are then presented. The report concludes with a set of recommendations for facilitating multi-agency and multi-modal TMC implementation in the Miami-Dade metropolitan area.
