EVALUATION OF STRUCTURAL FILL TO DESIGN RETAINING WALL
The purpose of this research is to evaluate the performance and the cost of lightweight aggregate used in structural backfill in a bridge abutment retaining wall. The material that is the primary focus of this research is called Solite. This material has a unit weight of 60 lb/cu ft, which is about half the unit weight of normal structural backfill. This report details the performance of Solite and documents the properties of other existing alternatives.
