MOTIONS IN WAVES OF A FLOATING FLEXIBLE BARRIER
The present report gives the results of an investigation of the motions in waves of a floating flexible barrier. The investigation centered on the ability of a barrier to follow the wave-forms of a sea-way as depending on the wave conditions, the tension in the barrier and the reserve buoyancy. The relative motion between the barrier and the water surface was measured during each test run. The results from statistical analyses of this relative motion are presented both in the form of tables and curves giving the fraction in per cent of the waves that lead to a relative motion exceeding a prescribed level.
