JOBLINKS: EMPLOYMENT TRANSPORTATION INITIATIVES

This article examines 10 Joblinks demonstration projects in order to spotlight ongoing efforts to help communities develop improved connections to work. The ten best practices are: Leveraging technology to access transportation information at one-stops, Hennepin County, Minnesota; Marketing mobility in rural Wisconsin, Ashland, Wisconsin; Creating a regional network to connect people to jobs, Fremont, Ohio; Linking people with high-concentration job centers, New York, New York; Coordinating transportation services in a point-and-click world, Virginia, Minnesota; Making employment connection with more than buses: transit's own one-stop, Des Moines, Iowa; Promoting choice and options, Dona Ana County, New Mexico; Using new technology to build inter-county bridges, Plattsburgh, New York; Bringing a community of providers to the table, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania; Getting clients to jobs with driving force, West-Central Wisconsin. Presented for each best practices is a discussion of the project goals, strategies and outcomes as well as significant achievements and innovative approaches for each.
