FREMANTLE INNER HARBOUR CONTAINER MOVEMENT STUDY
A comprehensive study into how, where and when shipping containers are moved to and from Fremantle Port was completed in March 2004. The container movement study collected data for use in improving the efficiency of intermodal operations, improving strategic land planning, minimising social and environmental impacts and enabling the port to cater for anticipated growth in the container trade. The study was conducted by Sinclair Knight Merz on behalf of the Department for Planning and Infrastructure, Fremantle Ports, Main Roads Western Australia and the Sea Freight Council of Western Australia, and has identified opportunities for efficiency improvements. These opportunities are now being pursued with the relevant stakeholders. (a)
