FORECASTING IMPACT OF TRIP PATTERNS
As communities grow and centers of population shift, new patterns of transportation emerge that can have a profound effect on the surrounding area. All too often, travel studies narrowly focus on modes of transport and ignore the impact they have on land use. Such problems can likely be resolved by the development of an Integrated Transportation Land Use Model. This article describes such land use models, details the differences between them and more traditional transportation models, and focuses on impacts that improvements to the system will have on land use.
