DEVELOPMENT OF A DIGITAL IMAGE ACQUISITION SYSTEM FOR PAVEMENT DISTRESS EVALUATION
This work details the requirements for establishment of a digital image acquisition system using line scan technology for pavement surface condition surveys in order to allow remote pavement distress evaluations. The paper presents the components of a simple digital system that saves images directly to a computer hard disk. The developed system is controlled not only by the computer, but also by a microchip controller, which accommodates the frequency of camera capture, making use of data coming from vehicle move. The captured images have 1024 pixels distributed through the lane width. The system can save continuous pavement images or just a fixed sample over the pavement length.
