NEW APPROACH FOR ESTIMATING LENGTHS OF TRANSITIONAL RAMPS DURING RUNWAY OVERLAND CONSTRUCTION. IN: AIRFIELD PAVEMENTS. CHALLENGES AND NEW TECHNOLOGIES
The purpose of this paper is to present a rapid overview of the main available criteria for ramp length estimation and its limitations. A new approach for estimating the lengths of traditional ramps to be constructed during runway rehabilitation work is presented. The lengths of the ramps are estimated as a function of the asphalt concrete overlay thickness and the longitudinal slopes of the runway exactly at the areas where the ramps should be constructed. Several different estimations for ramp lengths for runway longitudinal slopes are presented in this paper.
