AVL BOOSTS WASTE SERVICES DEPARTMENT'S EFFICIENCY

This article describes how the Plano Department of Environmental Waste Services in Texas uses automatic vehicle location (AVL) technology and the Global Positioning System (GPS) to keep track of 47 of the department's fleet of 53 trucks. Using the FleetDirector system, the operations center receives fleet information through the Internet.
