SOME ELEMENTS OF THE RO-RO TERMINALS
This paper examines some elements of ro-ro terminals and ferry service, with an emphasis on minimizing freight processing time, by ensuring there is the proper number of terminal gateways, customs and border control and parking and storage facilities. Research into ro-ro and short sea shipping is broken down into areas of study: cargo flow analysis, feasibility of freight transfer to ro-ro shipping, analysis of the existing and future fleet to ensure better client service, port development, the use of information technologies, logistics, laws and regulations. The author offers methods to analyze and portray these various elements and come to conclusions about possible solutions.
