HIGH TECH ROCKS THE BALLAST WORLD
The article examines some of the innovative high tech systems that employ technologies such as ground penetrating radar and global positioning systems, laser measurement, and more. These systems allow reading ballast and subgrade and direct ballast dumping, automatically close and re-open the doors to avoid places such as switches, bridges, and grade crossings, and do not require an employee on the ground when the cars unload.
