PERSONAL IN-CAR PARKING METERS
Personal in-car parking meters are being used in locations suited to their unique advantages. Portable electronic devices that can be hung from a rear-view mirror or driver's side grab bar, they work in conjunction with pre-paid smart cards and can be used to track actual parking time, down to the second. This saves users money by preventing overpayment, and the pre-paid element allows parking authorities to collect revenues upfront and at much lower cost than traditional methods. They also eliminate the need for street fixtures and enable authorities to collect data on parking behavior that can help guide future plans. Campuses, resort communities and municipalities that control all citywide parking facilities are potential clients.
