COAST GUARD, PASSENGER VESSEL ASSOCIATION PARTNERSHIP UPDATE
The former partnership established between the Passenger Vessel Association (PVA) and the U.S. Coast Guard in January 1996 was with the goal to promote passenger, personnel, and property safety within the domestic passenger vessel industry and to protect the environment within our nation's waters. Additionally, the partnership serves to improve communication between the two entities. The Partnership Action Team (PAT) serves as a venue to discuss relevant passenger vessel issues in an open forum. The following issues have been or are currently being addressed by the PAT: Maritime Transportation Security Act of 2002; Merchant Mariner Document (MMD) Re-issuance; Port-Wide Passenger Vessel Risk Assessments; and High Speed Craft Navigation and Vessel Inspection Circular Update.
